Munni re...

Munni

Ok.. this is Tanush's latest favorite song! Munni from Dabangg!! His baby eyes just light up whenever he listens to it! And he also asks me, his dad, my parents (who are in India, and whom he sees only on skype) to play 'Mooni' for him!

Again, another new technique... Tried digital art this time.. with my wacom and Corel Painter (that thing is so confusing! I need to go for a class or something... I can't understand the how-tos of so many things!) I have a lot of small mistakes there, but I am kind of happy...

Update: Tanush just came from his sleep, and saw this page open.. He stared at it for like 3-4 seconds, with a frown, and then broke into a slow smile, said "Muunni" :) :)
I got my medal!

Mixed media art

My first try at mixed media... I am following Tam's Art Heart and Healing classes. I am mainly following it for the mixed media techniques that she's teaching... But the classes have a lovely aesthetic (if I may use the word) feel to them. She makes us do these healing exercises, which involve going deep into introspection.. Though I didn't sign up for that, I am doing them nevertheless, in the spirit of the classes - and it does feel good alright!

The portrait is supposed to represent me!! Well, what was best was that she made it known to us, that when we have to draw a portrait representing us, it doesn't have to look exactly like us!! That was such a huge relief!! Otherwise, I would have gone into my 'Block Chamber' and not for all I know, wouldn't have come up  with this page at all!

The classes are for free - yay!!!! And we are still only on Class 2. You have access to the videos from Class 1 as well, once you sign up for the lessons.. Believe me - it is fun!

Jello and baby hands

Tanush always wants whatever pen I am using for my writing/drawing. He also wants the same sheet of paper that I am working on! Well, in return, he expects me also to work with both hands! He is ambidextrous for now, and thinks that all of us are too! ^_^

Tanush also wants to eat by himself.. With spoon and off late, with fork too.. We got him a few plastic forks.. and he's quite fond of them.. But sometimes he insists on having even jello with a fork!

Sketches during Molly's Watercolor classes

A few weeks ago I attended Molly Murrah's watercolor 101 -  which was a 5 week free webinar series presented by Creative Live. She is a wonderful artist, I just loved all her examples and the exercises that the classes provided. Creative Live provides some very good webinars. Their live webinar is usually free - you have to enroll for that though. You can buy their recordings later on though, if you miss something of your interest.

Those Fridays were good, when I used to plan well the day before so that I could do my housework and also take care of Tanush's needs, and then try to put him to sleep right through the 2 hr period when the course would be webcast. A couple Fridays were disasters., partially because Tanush wasn't sleepy, and the other times because the picture used to hang and stop every now and then. And then there was our notorious internet connection - a monopoly company which doesn't let us take a different service provider (I feel I shouldn't pay for the past 2 months - there was virtually no net for most of the nicer part of the day!)..

So when the screen used to go blank, or hang, I used to watch my reflection on the screen, or Molly's freeze and sketch that.. These are the pencil sketches 3 of mine and 1 of Molly's.. The rightmost sketch of mine is actually a memory sketch of what I think I look like! I have another one of Molly's that I sketched with pen. I need to scan that and upload it..

Caricature again..

I don't want to name him...I don't know if he's ok with me publishing his caricature... :) (Let me know if you aren't, and maybe I can make some more of yours and publish ;))

Next is my own.. I have promised myself a whole lot of self caricatures... at least a 100 of them...
