Then it's a legitimate modified blind contour! Sometimes you just know you are way off or the object just doesn't have a way to keep going without picking up the pen and moving it and you have to look at the pic then. I don't consider it cheating. Cheating implies wrongdoing. The rule in blind contour is to help you and if it isn't then it has to be altered a bit.
